I wanted to provide you with a brief update about our current EEE risk and the aerial spraying. As you may know, the aerial spraying in Northbridge began on the evening of August 26th and will likely continue for additional evenings, as the spraying is dependent on weather conditions.
Please note: There are no health risks expected during or after spraying. There is no evidence that aerial spraying of Anvil 10+10 will exacerbate certain health conditions, such as asthma or chemical sensitivity.
It remains critically important, however, for people in communities at critical, high and moderate risk for EEE (including Northbridge) to continue to take personal precautions against mosquito bites. These steps include using EPA-approved bug spray, wearing long sleeves and pants outdoors to reduce exposed skin, and cancelling outdoor activities in the hours from dusk to dawn when mosquitoes are most active.
As such we will continue to limit school fields use, as well as any other school-related outdoor activities to the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. until further notice. There will be NO field use or outdoor activities in the Northbridge Public Schools after 6:00 p.m.
We will continue to update you as we have more information. We will also post updated information on our district website.
