Summer School

Northbridge High School is offering summer school options for our students in English, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies at a cost of $125. Students who are eligible to attend will be notified by telephone. Students with a final grade of 50 are eligible to attend. A form is also available on the website. See the summer school letter for additional information.

  • English- June 22 to July 2
  • Math- July 6 to July 17
  • Social Studies - July 20 to July 31
  • Science - July 20 to July 31

Superintendent's H1N1 Flu Update

As you know, there are different strains of the flu affecting Massachusetts, including the new H1N1 strain (“swine flu”). So far, the symptoms of the new H1N1 flu are similar to those of the seasonal flu. But any flu virus can cause serious illness, so we are working closely with state and local officials to try to prevent the spread of the flu among students and staff. We are receiving daily updates from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. See full letter for additional information.

NHS recognizes Junior Medalists

The Junior Medallists Reception recognizes and celebrates the accomplishments of members of the Junior Class, who over a period of their years at Northbridge High have demonstrated excellence in academics, leadership, and service. We are proud of the accomplishments of our honorees, and we wish them continued success as they enter their final year of high school. See the full program and a picture here.

Find the "U" That's Right for You. Juniors can participate in the CollegeWeek Live virtual college fair. The free online college fair features 250+ schools, with school representatives answering questions and live video presentations with college admissions experts. Find your perfect college!

Sports News

Boys Lacrosse - Mike Padro was named one of only 5 All Americans in Central Massachusetts. He is the first ever All American at Northbridge. (Dan Cesarone was an Academic All American in 2005). Steve Falconer was named the Central Massachusetts Coach of the Year. They will both be given the awards at either the State Semi-Finals or Finals in a couple weeks.

National Art Honors Society News

The National Art Honors Society is participating in a nation wide fundraising campaign called Dollars for Darfur.  Darfur is a war torn region in Sudan.  The violence has been going on for five years; currently the President Omar al-Bashir has been indicted on acts of genocide and is presently expelling humanitarian aid groups from the region.  Through the Dollars for Darfur fundraiser we hope to raise awareness and hope to end the violence.  Donations can be made at the local businesses, the Main Office, Guidance, the Media Center, and online at savedarfur.org.

NEASC Accreditation Update

We are pleased to announce that Northbridge High School has been awarded Full Accreditation status and has been removed from "Warning" status by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges Inc.

School Council

The School Council is created to meet the provisions of Massachusetts General Law Chapter 71, Section 53 (also known as the Education Reform Act of 1993). The Northbridge High School Council membership consists of the Principal, parent/guardian, teachers, students and community representatives. Individuals interested in serving on School Council may inquire by contacting the Principal’s office. The primary responsibilities of the NHS School Council are to assist and advise the Principal in the following areas:

  • Adopting educational goals for the school
  • Identifying the educational needs of students attending the school
  • Reviewing the school’s handbook
  • Reviewing the school’s annual budget
  • Formulating a school improvement plan

All School Council meetings are subject to the Open Meeting Laws and all interested parties are invited to attend. The School Council meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month, 4:30 – 6 PM at Northbridge High School.

What is MassCore?

The 2008-2009 Program of Studies Guide is aligned with the Department of Education's newly proposed MassCore. The MassCore is a new policy designed to increase college and career readiness through the completion of a standardized secondary program of study.
