Summer is a wonderful time to relax, explore new interests, and most importantly, keep reading.
Reading over the summer helps children maintain the skills they worked so hard to build during the school year. Even just 15–20 minutes of reading each day can make a big difference in keeping minds active and ready for the fall.
Our goal is to make reading fun and engaging. Your child is encouraged to read books that interest them and as you will see from the comprehensive book lists provided at each grade level there is a variety of choices.
To support your child, we encourage you to:
Set aside a regular time each day for reading
Visit the Whitinsville Social Library for free books and programs
Talk with your child about what they are reading
Celebrate their reading progress, no matter how small
Please note the school supply lists for the 2026–2027 school year. Teacher assignments will not be released until August. Families will receive teacher placement information through Infinite Campus, so please make sure your Infinite Campus account is active and up to date in order to access this information when it becomes available.
Thank you for your continued support in helping your child grow as a reader. We wish you a safe, relaxing, and book-filled summer!

And don’t forget about math!
Spend some time this summer regularly working with your children to help them master their addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts. A strong foundation in basic facts is an important stepping stone towards more complicated future math concepts. Students are able to log onto ST Math at home over the summer, if they want to get some extra practice in!
