FY26 School Department Budget

The FY26 budget cycle is underway. As informational budget meetings are held, copies of the presentations and budget documents will be posted here to help inform community members about the school department's budget and budget process.

On March 19, 2025 the School Committee voted to approve the FY26 School Department Budget.

On May 6, 2025, the School Committee is sponsoring Article 4 at the Spring Annual Town Meeting, requesting an additional $700,000 be added to the School Department appropriation in FY26, contingent upon the passage of a proposition 2 1/2 override.

Article 4 Language: To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $700,000, as an addition to the appropriation under Article 3 of this warrant, to defray the necessary and usual expenses of the School Department for FY2026, beginning July 1, 2025 and ending June 30, 2026, subject to the condition that the Town shall have first voted, at an election, to allow the Town to assess said additional sum in real estate and personal property taxes, pursuant to MGL Chapter 59, Section 21C(g) (Proposition 2 1/2 so-called); or take any other action relative thereto.

On May 20, 2025, Question 2 will appear on the Ballot for the Annual Town Election.

Question 2: Shall the Town of Northbridge be allowed to assess an additional $4,950,000 in real estate and personal property taxes for the purposes of funding the operating budget of the public school department for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025?

FY25 School Department Budget

The School Committee voted to approve the FY25 School Department Budget on April 9, 2024.
