March 20th- Friday Update and Outreach

A message from NORTHBRIDGE PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Good afternoon Northbridge Families,

Here is the latest information available:

Student Learning

Our staff continues to work to provide your children with quality learning opportunities during this closure.  I have seen many photos and had many positive emails from teachers about their students being fully engaged in their online learning experiences and having great discussions about their learning.  I have also heard from parents that students have been working diligently on packets of work that they have received and want even more!  This is all music to my ears.

For those families whose students want more, and you have internet access, please visit our website (www.nps.org) and check out all of the amazing resources that we have posted for students (and parents) of all grade levels.  We’ve posted links to virtual field trips, museums, and parks, as well as a plethora of other academic resources to enhance the learning experience.   For those families without internet access, we are working on putting additional materials, resources and books together for your students as well.

We expect that, within the next week, DESE will be releasing additional guidelines to districts around student learning and how best to support ALL students during this period of closure.     Until then, we will continue to do our best to support our students each day, and we ask that you encourage your students to do the best they can, and do not hesitate to reach out to their teachers if you/they need help or have questions.

Student Meals and Food Pantry

We will continue to provide Grab n Go breakfast and lunch to our Free/Reduced students at Balmer Elementary, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m.  We encourage you to use this service if you’re eligible.

We have also received MANY generous donations to our Food Pantries this week, and we are extremely grateful to all of the generous folks in this district and town for helping us provide for our students and families.   If you would like to access our Food Pantry, please email or call Mrs. Ross at kross@nps.org or (508) 234-8161 prior to showing up at Balmer.  If you email, please give her a specific list of items that you need, and we will provide you with a box of items to fit your family’s needs.   If you cannot reach Mrs. Ross, please feel free to call Central Office at (508) 234-8156, and we will make sure that we are able to get you what you need.   Please be sure to call or email us to arrange a pick-up time for your items, as we are trying to minimize unplanned visits to the school building.

Also, please note, if you are unable to pick up the student Grab n’ Go meals during the scheduled time, or if you are unable to pick up your Food Pantry items, we are happy to deliver to your home if you let us know in advance that you need that service.

Communication

Please continue to check for updates and information on our website, and I will continue to provide you with updates and information via our all-call system as often as needed and appropriate.

You can also always call my or email me with any questions or concerns.  You can also call or email any of the district or building administrators, and we will get back to you as quickly as possible.  Here is all of our contact information for quick reference:
